I am, indeed, delighted to be here today(18-09-2015). I join you in felicitating achievers in India’s Tourism industry. These exceptional individuals and institutions have distinguished themselves through their dedication in promoting India as a tourist destination. They have made outstanding contributions to the development of our tourism sector in terms of quality and capacity. I would like to congratulate the award winners. The honours conferred today (18-09-2015) will, no doubt, reinforce the commitment of all the stakeholders in the tourism sector and motivate them to work with renewed vigour for its expansion and growth.

The development of tourist infrastructure and products is the primary responsibility of the concerned State Governments/UT Administrations.However, in order to realize the huge tourism potential of the country including North Eastern Region and bridge the infrastructure gaps, the Ministry of Tourism has identified the following theme based circuits, under its Swadesh Darshan Scheme:   -----------------------------------------

Cleanliness at Tourist Destinations

Cleanliness at Tourist Destinations

The maintenance of cleanliness at tourist spots is primarily the responsibility of the State Government/UT Administration/concerned agency responsible for maintenance of tourist spots.  However, Ministry of Tourism has taken following initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan:

i.Swachh Bharat - Swachh Smarak:-

Taking a cue from Swachh Bharat, this is an initiative to see a cleaner India for protecting and preserving the sanctity of monuments of national heritage. To aid this, Ministry of Tourism launched a special e-poster with Prime Minister’s message requesting the tourists and the people of the nation to wholeheartedly engage themselves in the cleanliness of their surroundings and help create a Swachh Bharat, Swachh Smarak...................................................................
